Feels Like Home

Moving On

It’s official. Our very first home now belongs to someone else. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s still just a little sad to see it go. We actually moved out 5 weeks ago, but after we had already loaded all our belongings on a truck and said our goodbyes, we got a call that the closing had been delayed. We’ve been staying with family while we waited. Today it all finally happened!

Mike had this house built 10 years ago. I lived there with him for 8 of those 10 years. It’s the home we came back to after our honeymoon, the place we celebrated many anniversaries & birthdays, the place we brought our baby home to and watched him grow for 2.5 years. He took his first steps here, and on his first birthday, the house was packed with our family & friends. I’m very thankful for the happy years we had. It’s comforting to me to know that the new owners are just about the age we were when we got this place. I like that we’re passing on our first home to another couple for it to become their first home! I left them a note telling them congratulations on their first place, and that we hoped it would be a blessing for them like it was for us.

Goodbye, little house! You were a cute first home.

My decorating skills came a long way in 8 years. I wish I could find a photo from the early years when I painted that wall LIME green. Then again, maybe it’s best to not remember the green phase.596Windridge-6

My baby boy’s nursery. Definitely the most difficult room to say goodbye to. There were tears. He’ll have a big boy room in the next house.Nursery1Nursery2

The three of us on the last day we were working over there. Pretty hot & nasty looking, but had to commemorate the moment.

Beautiful sunset as we said our goodbye!

If everything goes as planned, we’ll be in our new home by this time next week! Fingers crossed!
