Just an update on how I’ve been doing with my 2011 goals. Gotta stay accountable, right?
1. Be more organized – Woohoo!
It sounds simple, cliche & lame, but here’s the deal. In 2007, I went back to college. In 2008, I started a business while still in college commuting about 10 hours a week to classes. In 2009, I got pregnant & graduated. In 2010, I had a baby & was handed the most difficult situation of our lives when Mike & I had to readjust so much for his health. The point is, I was really just surviving these past few years. The new year brought a fresh start, & I am actually much more organized so far! I’ve been going through cabinets, closets, & pantries. In general, I’m just making sure to not be as scattered.
2. Clean house every Monday – Woohoo!
I’m happy to report that my house has been staying nice & tidy. I’ve been doing better with laundry too. My goal was to have my house clean enough that I wouldn’t be embarrassed if company came by unexpectedly at any given time. We’re definitely getting there.
3. Give my living room, bathrooms & back yard a face lift – In Progress
Mike & I have big plans for our back patio. My goal is to have the project completed this spring so it will be ready for Lincoln’s first birthday party in May. The only hangup is saving up the money to do what we want to do.
4. Eat at home more often – Pretty Good.
We’re doing much, much better, & we’re saving money by eating at home so much! Some weeks have been better than others, so still working on it.
5.Read my Bible every single day, no excuses – Woohoo!
Haven’t missed a day yet.
6. Read a book each month – Woohoo!
I read 1.5 books in January. Finishing the 2nd one that I started. I feel like I’ve rediscovered my love for reading. Using my Kindle app on my iPad :)
7. Go to bed earlier, get up earlier – So, so.
This one has been hit & miss. This is incredibly difficult for me. I’m still trying, but I definitely haven’t been doing so hot. Ok, this is pretty much a fail.
8. Pay off credit cards – Woohoo!
We’ve been sending extra money each week and using the Dave Ramsey “snowball” concept. I downloaded the Pay Off Debt app for my iPad, and it’s awesome. It shows us what percentage of our cards is paid off, when we’ll be debt free at that rate, & lets you see how that debt free date will change if you pay more or less each month. I love seeing the percentage of debt that’s been paid go up every week.
9. Work out 3 times a week – In Progress
We decided to get a membership to The Y last week. I’m going to try to go 3 afternoons a week. Last night I did an Intro to Spinning class and truly thought I might die. I’m so out of shape. Thankfully I don’t really need to lose weight (maybe 5 pounds), but I do need to tone up after having the baby last year.
10. Have two date nights a month – Oops.
We had a date night planned, but it fell through. Life with businesses & baby is rather crazy. Definitely going to make this one happen though. I think Mike has something planned for next week :)
11. Stick to our newly made budget – Woohoo!
I’ve been keeping track of every penny, and we’re spending less, which is helping us with #8 :)
12. Blog once a week – Woohoo!
Both blogs have been kept up!
Overall, I feel much more relaxed & peaceful this year. I’m doing so much better at running my life instead of it running me! Hopefully I can keep this up :)
And I’ll leave you with a picture of Lincoln at the park the other day. He loves swinging!
